Gov't approves amendments to Tax Code

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at its Wednesday meeting, in the framework of finalizing the draft state budget for 2017, has approved amendments to the Tax Code, which allow to significantly simplifying the administration of taxes.

Presenting the decision, Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk said that the changes were set forth in the package of bills, which had to be submitted to the Parliament for further discussion. "The changes relate to the tax administration and simplification of tax procedures for business," he said.

Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman noted that the Government had prepared amendments to the Tax Code agreed by the National Reform Council under the President of Ukraine. Their adoption will allow introducing the principles of effective anti-corruption policy in the sphere of tax administration.

Groysman also emphasized that the key to business development in Ukraine should be a change in the tax administration system and the complete elimination of any regulatory pressure on businesses. According to the prime minister, business "cannot produce national product and develop, being held in captivity, under pressure from regulatory bodies."

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko also noted that the improvement of the business climate, including in terms of tax regulation in Ukraine, was "a matter of life and death" for the country.
