NBU asks Rada to replace head of Banking Committee, cites "unprofessionalism"

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has addressed an open letter to Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy, which contained a proposal to replace Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on financial policy and banking Serhiy Rybalka, according to a message on the NBU's official website.

"The National Bank of Ukraine has addressed an open letter to Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy with a proposal to replace Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on financial policy and banking Serhiy Rybalka in connection with the lack of professionalism, political bias, inability to ensure effective work of the committee, undermining the credibility of the National Bank, creating obstacles to the improvement and development of the financial sector," the report says.

"With a few exceptions, the activity of the majority of its members is derived from their political and business interests. The presence of such members in the committee makes it impossible to effectively perform its functions in the interests of the entire financial sector and financial services consumers," the report reads.
