Ukraine-Hungary trade grows by 11% in eight months

Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto says that trade between Hungary and Ukraine grew by 11% January through August 2016, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"Trade between our countries rose by 11%," he said at a press conference with Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin in Kyiv on Friday.

Read alsoUkraine resumes gas imports from HungarySzijjarto also said that during talks with Klimkin the sides had agreed to boost cooperation in the energy sector.

He also said that Hungary had started preparations for opening a checkpoint at the Hungarian-Ukrainian border between Nagyhodos and Velyka Palad.

"In this connection, we'll jointly apply to the EU for sources of financing," he said.

Further, the Hungarian-based facilities of a terminal for trucks at the Beregsurany-Luzhanka checkpoint at the Ukraine-Hungary border would be ready by the end of 2016, he said.

The Hungarian minister also announced that 20 Ukrainian servicemen who have been wounded in the Donbas war would undergo medical treatment and rehabilitation in Hungary.
