Ukraine’s current pension system is unfair, largely populist and in need of a change, agreed with the public, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said on live television late Friday.

"The pension system is unfair and largely populist. The deficit of the Pension Fund is UAH 156 billion for 2017. What does it mean? This means that previously, each year politicians splurged and only made the problem more acute," said Groysman.

According to the prime minister, today it is important to make the system fair and fill it with resources.

"And we will make our first step – we will raise the minimum pension by 10% from December 1," said Groysman.
