Ukraine, Israel may sign FTA deal in 2017

The agreement on free trade area (FTA) between Ukraine and Israel, which is beneficial to both countries, could be signed in 2017, Speaker of the Knesset Yuli-Yoel Edelstein said at a forum in Kyiv.

"I hope and expect that an agreement on free trade area between Ukraine and Israel will be signed in 2017," he said.

At the same time, Edelstein said that the Israeli side would speed up its consideration of issues related to the conclusion of the agreement.

"We also have agencies that need to be pushed to accelerate the process," he said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine and Israel negotiated the establishment of a free trade area for several years, but in the summer of 2013 the talks were suspended. In September 2015, Kyiv and Tel Aviv resumed debate. In July 2016, the sides held the third round of negotiations, which enabled the two countries to enter the final stage of negotiation on free trade area.
