Ukraine’s gas reserves drop 2.8% in past week - Ukrtransgaz

The reserves of natural gas in Ukrainian underground storage facilities between Dec 24 and January 1 decreased by 2.8%, or 342 million cubic meters, from 12.291 billion cubic meters down to 11.949 bcm, according to the operator of the country’s gas transport system, Ukrtransgaz.

On January 1, 43 million cubic meters of gas was pumped out of gas storages, the company reports.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in September 2016 the Government approved the schedule for the country’s preparation for the heating season, as well as the volume of fuel reserves to ensure continued supplies of heat and electricity to consumers.

At the same time, Naftogaz of Ukraine said gas reserves of 14.5 bcm would be sufficient to ensure the safe passage of the heating season.
