On commission of the prime minister, a new algorithm of assigning scholarships has been elaborated together with student community, the Ukrainian Cabinet's press service reports.
The Procedure for the assigning and payment of scholarships to students of vocational schools, students (cadets) of higher state and communal educational institutions, postgraduates and doctoral students obtaining full-time education, was approved by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of December 28, 2016 No. 1050, the press service reports.
Head of Government noted that in Budget-2017 the scholarship fund had been increased by UAH 580 million up to nearly UAH 6 billion in total, and urged members of student government to join the discussions on the system of granting scholarships.
According to the prime minister, the new system of assigning scholarships should serve an impetus to gain high-quality knowledge, thereby being a guarantee of success for the young people in the future.

Performance component constitutes at least 90% of the rating points. The procedure for determining rating points is defined by each particular educational institution.
The Commission, which decides on issues of scholarships assignment to students of higher educational institutions, is composed of no less than 50% of the members of the student government and primary trade union organizations of students and postgraduates. Scholarships for students who rank top positions shall be increased by 45%.
