According to the Ukrainian prime minister, the country’s economic development could be based on three pillars – industrial development, foreign trade, and attracting investment.
Ukraine should develop its own processing industry, instead of functioning as a "sawmill-country" with a low level of raw material processing, the government press service quoted Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman as saying.
"To create a Ukrainian product, we need to create our own processing industry. We can not remain an appendage, only planting, harvesting and selling grain. Or cutting down and exporting timber... This is like a sawmill. We are not a sawmill-country. We are a country that can develop high-quality products, so the depth of processing is very important. That’s because deep processing means jobs, and more jobs means economic development, and so on," he said.

"Our goal as a government is to make each hryvnia, each dollar or euro invested in Ukraine's economy be successful. Anyone who wants to invest should know that it is safe for them, while we should see new jobs, new products, wages to the people, and taxes to the state. And we are actively creating mechanisms to this end," he said.

The prime minister also set the task before the authorities to double the growth of the Ukrainian economy and at the same time increase the volume of direct investments in the country as a prerequisite for economic development.
