Price hike in Ukraine amounted to 12.4% last year

Inflation in Ukraine in 2016 (December 2016 to December 2015) decreased to 12.4% compared with 43.3% inflation in 2015 and reached a minimum value in the past two years, according to the State Statistics Service website.

Inflation in December 2016 slowed to 0.9% compared with November 2016, with 1.8% recorded a month earlier.

According to the data, in 2016, prices rose the most for hot water and heating (by 88%), electricity (by 60%), vegetable oil (by 29.6%), milk (by 23.3%), alcoholic beverages (by 22.5%).

In annual terms, the reduction in prices was recorded for vegetables by 28.6%, eggs – by 9.6%, fruits – by 6.5%.

The State Statistics Service said that the data were presented excluding the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone.

As UNIAN reported earlier, inflation in Ukraine rose 43.3% in 2015 (December 2015 to December 2014) as compared with 24.9% recorded in 2014, hitting the highest level over the past 20 years.
