Ukraine exports agricultural products worth almost $14 bln in 2016

Over the 11 months of last year, Ukrainian agricultural producers exported to foreign markets agricultural products worth $13.57 billion, which is 4% ($535 million) more year-over-year, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported, with reference to the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

According to the report, the export of agricultural products is 41.5% in the total national exports.

The largest share in the structure of Ukrainian agri-exports belongs to crop production ($7.2 billion in the reporting period), which is $7 million more y-o-y. In particular, the export of grain crops increased by $10 million, to $5.4 billion.

At the same time, exports of finished food products decreased by $57.7 million, to $2.1 billion, and livestock and animal products -- by $48 million, to $0.7 billion.

According to the press service, the imports of agricultural products in Ukraine in January-November 2016 increased by 10.7% ($338 million), up to $3.5 billion, representing 9.9% in the structure of the national import. The import structure is dominated by products of vegetable origin, with the volume of deliveries in the reporting period having increased by $108 million compared to the same period in 2015, to $1.1 billion. In particular, grains worth $138 million were imported, which is $11.5 million less than the year before. Imports of fats and animal or vegetable oils in Ukraine in January-November 2016 increased by $53.5 million, to $221 million, finished food products by $117.3 million, to $1.6 billion, and livestock and animal products -- by $59 million dollars, to $0.55 billion.

The positive balance of foreign trade in agricultural products amounted to $10.1 billion over the 11 months of 2016.

In 2015, Asian countries accounted for 45% of Ukrainian food exports. The share of exports to Europe was 28.2%, to Africa 13.6% and to the CIS countries 10%. Grain accounted for 16% of all farm produce exports, fats and oil for 9% and oilseeds for 4%.
