UkSATSE reduces air traffic services by 9% in 2016

Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise (UkSATSE) reduced the number of ground control services by 8,8% in 2016, to 214,000, the press service of the company said.

According to the report, it is caused by the decrease of transit flows due to the closure of part of airspace over the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone and the temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as mutual air traffic sanctions between Ukraine and Russia.

According to published statistics, UkSATSE serviced 81,885 flights of Ukrainian air carriers, which is 17.6% more year-over-year, and 132.377 flights of foreign airlines, which is 19.9% less y-o-y. In addition, the company served 86,290 transit flights (-26.6%), 104,565 international flights (+ 9.5%) and 23,407 domestic flights (+ 7.0%).

Read alsoAntonov-made aircraft to get EU certification – Infrastructure MinistryAccording to UkSATSE, in 2016, the most significant amounts of air navigation services were provided to such airlines: Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) – 49,138 flights, which is 19.8% more than in 2015, Turk Hava Yollari - 22,920 flights (+ 2.1%), Belavia - 12.799 flights (+ 21,6%), LOT Polish Airlines - 9,907 flights (+ 40,7%), Wizz Air Hungary - 5,626 flights (+ 37,1%), Pegasus - 4,288 flights (0,4%), Air Moldova - 4,219 flights (-12,2%), Azur Air Ukraine - 4,074 flights (+ 16.8%), Dniproavia - 3,666 flights (2, 3%) and Lufthansa - 3,549 flights (+ 4.9%).

As UNIAN reported earlier, according to the State Aviation Administration, Ukrainian air carriers in 2016 boosted passenger transportation by 31.2% y-o-y, to 8.274 million people.
