Ministry of Agrarian Policy names main priorities of its work in 2017

The priority tasks of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine in 2017 are land reform, stimulation of the agrarian sector development, improvement of quality and food safety, and the development of organic production, according to the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy with reference to Deputy Minister Olena Kovalova.

"The priorities of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, defined by the government for 2017, are the issues of land reform, stimulating the development of agro-industrial complex, quality and food safety, the development of the organic market. Now both the Ministry and the Public Council under the Ministry should actively cooperate on all these issues," she said.

Read alsoAgri-year of records and new challengesEarlier, the ministry said that the opening of new markets was among the important directions of its work in the current year.

This year, the ministry plans to open the Chinese market for Ukrainian dairy products, poultry, beef, as well as a number of crops and fruits. There are also discussions about entering the Jordanian market with chilled or frozen beef and markets in Japan, Canada, Singapore, Korea and the United States -- with poultry meat.

Read alsoUkraine exports agricultural products worth almost $14 bln in 2016As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy in 2017 intends to set up a trade mission to the European Union, India, as well as the Middle East, to strengthen trade and economic relations and promote agricultural products from Ukraine in those markets.

The main tools that the agency intends to use to support the agro-industrial complex are the state agricultural intervention, agricultural financing, and support for small producers of agricultural products.
