Trade in securities on Ukrainian exchanges declines by 17.2% in 2016

The total volume of trade in securities on the Ukrainian stock exchanges in 2016 fell by 17.2%, to UAH 236.95 billion (US$8.70 billion) from UAH 286.21 billion (US$10.51 billion) in 2015, according to a report by the National Commission on Securities and Stock Market.

Trade in government bonds was estimated at UAH 211.3 billion, or 89.2% of the total sum of contracts concluded via the stock exchanges in 2016. This amount was 16.6% down from 2015.

Trade in equities in 2016 amounted to UAH 2.2 billion, which was 61.5% down from 2015.

The amount of deals with corporate bonds in 2016 fell by 30.9% from 2015, to UAH 9.4 billion.

Last year, the commission registered issues of securities worth UAH 232.41 billion, which was 56.5% up from 2015.

As UNIAN reported earlier, trade in securities on the Ukrainian stock exchanges shrank by 53.1% in 2015 to UAH 290.8 billion, against UAH 619.7 billion in 2014.

The commission also registered securities issues in 2015 to the tune of UAH 155.8 billion, which was 24% down from 2014.

The volume of issues of equities registered in 2015 shrank by 10.9% from 2014, to UAH 128.6 billion.
