Ukraine boosts wheat, sugar, sunflower oil exports most

Exports of Ukrainian sunflower oil, wheat and sugar demonstrated the highest growth among other groups of commodities shipped abroad in January-November 2016, according to the infographics, posted on the Economic Development and Trade Ministry's website.

Exports of sunflower oil rose by US$651 million, wheat by $519 million, and sugar by $120 million year-over-year (y-o-y), according to the data.

Revenue from exports of pig iron and flat-rolled products grew most in the metalware segment, by $37 million and $35 million, respectively.

The highest increase in exports in the industrial segment was shown by freight cars and electric water heaters, which generated $39 million from sales each.

Read alsoUkraine sugar exports soar to record high in 2016At the same time, Ukraine's Trade Envoy Natalia Mykolska noted that despite a general decline in the exports, its pace is slowing, and producers seek new markets and start to ship value-added products.

"Exports still demonstrate a downward trend, but the pace of the decline is slowing. Exports of processed goods are on rise along with the search for new markets," she emphasized.

As UNIAN reported earlier, exports of goods from Ukraine in January-November 2016 fell by 5.9%, to $32.734 billion y-o-y, while imports grew by 1.8%, to $35.059 billion, according to the State Statistics Service's estimates.

Exports to the EU alone grew by 3.1% over the same period in 2016, to $12.202 billion y-o-y, accounting for 37.3% of total exports.

Goods shipments to the Russian Federation decreased by 27.4%, to $3.2 billion.
