Infrastructure Ministry intends to reduce fees in seaports by 60% in two stages

Ukraine's Infrastructure Ministry is going to review the existing port tariffs and fees set by the country’s commercial seaports, reducing them by 60% in two stages, according to Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan.

"I expect that we will reduce the fees in two stages: first, by 30%, and then by another 30%. I think that it [the decision to reduce tariffs] will definitely be adopted before April," Omelyan said at a meeting with envoys of the European Business Association.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in early November 2016, the Infrastructure Ministry announced its intention to develop and approve a new method of port fees calculation, providing for a reduction of tariff rates at least twofold before the end of 2017.

In late June, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the reduction by 50% of the rates of seaport fees for the transit of goods in order to attract additional cargo flows.

There are 13 state-run seaports in mainland Ukraine.​
