Ukraine Cabinet reveals price of gas imported in 2017

The average price of imported natural gas in January 2017 amounted to UAH $229.5 per 1,000 cubic meters, as reported on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, citing data from the State Fiscal Service.

"The State Fiscal Service of Ukraine has calculated the average cost of imported natural gas, formed in the process of customs clearance at the time of entry into the territory of Ukraine for the period of January 1-31, 2017, and that is UAH 6,032 and 80 kopiykas," reads the statement.

It is also noted that this value is equal to $229.5 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Read alsoNaftogaz buys gas from 15 European suppliers in 2016As UNIAN reported earlier, according to Ministry of Economic Development, the average customs value of gas in December 2016 amounted to UAH 6,006 and 60 kopiykas per 1,000 cubic meters.

In January 2017, Ukraine increased gas imports by 59.4%, to 1.455 billion cubic meters. 1.3 bcm of gas was imported from Slovakia and 0.1 bcm from Hungary and Poland each.

On February 1, Naftogaz of Ukraine published a statement claiming that a mandatory disclosure of commercial data, such as the contractual cost of natural gas, puts the state holding at a disadvantage compared to private importers, which could lead to an increase in imported gas prices and the narrowing of the range of suppliers.
