Ukraine almost doubles butter exports

Butter exports from Ukraine in January 2017 totaled 605 tonnes, which was 1.76 times more than in January 2016; whereas butter exports in monetary terms over the period under review increased 2.3 times, to US$2.3 million, according to customs statistics reports posted by the State Fiscal Service (SFS) on its website.

Meanwhile, butter imports to Ukraine in January 2017 shrank by 21.4%, to 39 tonnes, while imports in monetary terms stood at $185,000.

Exports of non-condensed milk and cream from Ukraine over the period under review grew by 55.5%, to 678 tonnes, and increased by 72.2% in monetary terms, to $434,000. Imports of these products in the previous month totaled 52 tonnes, which was almost 5 times more than in January 2016. In monetary terms, imports of non-condensed milk and cream increased fourfold, to $90,000.

Imports of these products over the period under review totaled 136 tonnes against 81 tonnes in 2015. In monetary terms, imports increased by 1.5 times, to $227,000.

Domestic producers also exported 315 tonnes of cheese in January 2017, which was 39.4% up from January 2016. In monetary terms, cheese exports grew by 64.5%, to $957,000.

Shipments of cheese from abroad over the period under review increased by 38.6%, to 559 tonnes, and grew by 1.5 times in monetary terms, to $2.49 million.

As UNIAN reported earlier, cheese exports from Ukraine stood at 8,000 tonnes in 2016, which was 25.9% down from 2015. Exports of non-condensed milk and cream increased by 19.3%, to 10,500 tonnes, butter by 2.5%, to 12.100 tonnes, while the exports of condensed milk and cream fell by 17.6%, to 51,900 tonnes.
