Ukrposhta to go public from Mar 1

State-owned postal services provider Ukrposhta will become a Public Joint Stock Company before March 1, 2017, Deputy Infrastructure Minister Yuriy Lavrenyuk told at a press conference Monday.

"Ukrposhta started corporatization in summer 2016, and on March 1 – less than in a month – it will start operating as PJSC, adhering to all procedures in line with the legislation," Lavrenyuk said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in early July 2015, the government committee on infrastructure development and environmental policy supported the decision to reorganize Ukrposhta.

UNIAN memo. Ukrposhta is the national operator of postal services under the authority of the Infrastructure Ministry. The company offers more than 50 types of services in 12,000 offices throughout Ukraine. The company employs about 76,000 people.

Ukrposhta processes and delivers over 240 million postal items, 16 million parcels and insured items, carries out 15 million transfers and 83 million pension payments annually.

In 2015, Ukrposhta posted a profit of UAH 53 million, the highest result over the past 15 years. In 2014, the company incurred a UAH 4 million loss.
