Stocks of deficient anthracite coal at Ukraine’s TPPs down by 2%

Anthracite coal reserves at the warehouses of thermal power plants across Ukraine from February 5 to February 12 decreased by 1.9%, down to 842,000 tonnes, according to Ukrenergo, the operator of the country’s United energy grid.

At the same time, stocks of gas grade coal fell by 8.4%, from 751,000 tonnes to 688,000 tonnes.

In general, the reserves of solid fuel at TPP warehouses solid over the week fell by 4,9%, to 1.53 million tonnes.

As UNIAN reported earlier, after the start of the Russia-ignited war in Donbas, Ukraine lost control over a large number of anthracite coal mines. To solve the problem of coal supply, Ukraine was temporarily procuring fuel in South Africa. On the territory seized by militants, anthracite coal is mined exclusively at the mines owned by Rinat Akhmetov’s DTEK. Coal supplies from the ATO zone are often interrupted.
