Energoatom sees rise in revenue from electricity sales

State-run enterprise Energoatom, the operator of Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants, reported a 7.5% growth of revenue from electricity sales in January 2017 year-over-year (y-o-y), up to UAH 4.257 billion, the company reported.

Wholesale electricity market payments for electricity supplied by Energoatom amounted to UAH 1.769 billion (41.5%) in the reporting period.

It is also reported that state-run enterprise Energorynok, the operator of the country’s wholesale electricity market, owes to Energoatom some UAH 12.449 billion. This includes debts for electricity supplied in previous periods.

The company's power generation in the period under review decreased to 7.569 billion kW/h from 7.829 billion kW/h during the same period last year.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2016 Energoatom increased its revenue from the sales of electricity by 9.6% y-o-y, to UAH 43.129 billion. In 2015, the company saw a 41.6% increase in its revenue, to UAH 39.345 billion.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine's largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of the country’s nuclear power plants.

Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
