Cabinet expects to make pension fund deficit-free by 2024

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers in the framework of pension reform expects to significantly reduce the budget deficit of the Pension Fund, making it fully balanced by 2024, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman told journalists.

"My objectives for this year: on the one hand, to develop the economy and make it strong so that people could feel it, on the other hand – to implement reform that will make the pension system fair. In the coming months, we will present our approach and ask our citizens and Parliament to support it, for Ukrainians to receive high pensions," the head of government said.

Earlier, Groysman said that the pension reform options proposed by the Government did not relate to raising the retirement age. Moreover, there is no mention of its raising among the obligations assumed by Ukraine within the framework of cooperation with the country's key lender, the International Monetary Fund.
