Ukraine's central bank estimates GDP growth in 2016 at 2.2%

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeria Gontareva says that the NBU estimates Ukraine's real GDP growth in 2016 at 2.2%.

The Central Bank's estimates coincide with data earlier announced by the Ukrainian State Statistics Service.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's GDP grew by 5.1% in January 2017, whereas it fell by 1.6% in January 2016, according to the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry.

Ukraine's GDP grew by 4.7% in the fourth quarter of 2016 year-over-year, whereas it increased by 1.9% from the third quarter of 2016, the State Statistics Service said.

Experts interviewed by UNIAN predict Ukraine's economy in 2017 will continue its recovery trend and GDP may grow to 2.1%, while industrial production may increase to 2.5% amid 10% inflation.

The Ukrainian government is more optimistic by forecasting 3% GDP growth in the country in 2017.
