Ukraine triples exports of roses in 2016

Ukraine exported almost 3 million roses in 2016, which was three times higher than in 2015, according to the press service of the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB).

"Exports of Ukrainian roses tripled last year to 2.89 million flowers. Some 960,000 roses were exported in 2015, and 100,000 in 2014," the press service said.

The price of one Ukrainian rose abroad in 2016 was nearing about US$0.4. Major buyers were Poland (50% of total exports), Belarus (29%), and the Netherlands (20%).

At the same time, the UCAB reported that in 2016 Ukraine imported 24.4 million roses. Major suppliers were Ecuador (43%), Ethiopia (30%), and the Netherlands (15%). The price of one imported rose in 2016 was between $0.07 and $0.13.

Read alsoUkraine raises agriexports to EU to over $4 bln in 2016In 2011-2014, Ukraine annually imported from 36 million to 68 million roses at a price of $0.5 per flower. In 2015, the purchasing price of imported roses fell to $0.08 per flower, and the volumes fell to 15 million roses.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry said that exports of Ukrainian farm produce in 2016 rose by 4.5% from 2015, to $15.5 billion. Agricultural products accounted for 42.5% of total Ukrainian exports.
