Gov't borrows UAH 308 bln in 2016

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 2016 issued bonds of domestic government loan for UAH 129.2 billion to attract loans, according to the official website of the Cabinet's official newspaper Uriadoviy Kurier.

According to the data, bonds worth UAH 107 billion were issued for the capitalization of the nationalized PrivatBank, UAH 9.3 billion for Ukreximbank, UAH 5 billion for Oschadbank, and UAH 7.9 billion for lending to the Individual Deposit Guarantee Fund.

As a whole for 2016, the government borrowed a total of UAH 307.7 billion, including external borrowing worth UAH 61.3 billion, and domestic -- worth UAH 246.4 billion.

The amount of Ukraine's public and publicly guaranteed debt was at 1.930 trillion in the hryvnia equivalent at the end of 2016.

As a result, the annual target budget deficit amounted to UAH 70.3 billion, which is below the target at UAH 87.2 billion.

The report notes that the Ministry of Finance will present a public report on the implementation of the state budget of Ukraine for 2016 on March 17.
