Average price of farm produce in Ukraine 9% up in 2016

The average sale price of farm produce marketed by Ukrainian agri-businesses in 2016 grew by 9% in 2016 from 2015, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

According to the report, crop production for the period under review went up in price by 16.3%.

In particular, the price of grain grew by 17.2%, to about UAH 3,400 per tonne, that of oilseeds rose by 14.9%, to UAH 8,700 per tonne, and sugar beets by 7.6%, to UAH 800 per tonne.

The price per tonne of vegetables in 2016 remained at the level of 2015, being UAH 3,900. However, the price of potatoes increased by 8%, to UAH 2,600 per tonne, while the price of fruit and berries decreased by 0.5%, to UAH 5,900 per tonne.

The price of cattle and poultry (live weight) rose by 2.3%, to UAH 22,500 per tonne, that of milk grew by 25.6%, to UAH 5,500 per tonne, while the price of eggs fell by 16.8%, to UAH 1,109 per 1,000 eggs.

The data does not include reports from the occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of Donbas.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the cost of agricultural production in Ukraine in 2016 grew by 13.5% from 2015.
