Omelyan says major low-cost airline to enter Ukraine market

On March 15, one of the largest European low-cost air carriers is expected to declare its intention to enter the Ukrainian market of air transportation, according to Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan who spoke at two press conferences, in Kyiv and Lviv, BBC News reports citing 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"This company will inform both about the routes and its vision of the market," said Mr Omelyan, according to BBC News.

However, the minister did not name the company he was talking about.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Europe's largest low-cost carrier Ryanair may soon announce the launch of flights to Ukraine, according to Juliusz Komorek, Chief Legal Officer/Secretary at Ryanair Holdings PLC.

Komorek also hesitated to name the date when the flights would be launched, calling Ukraine a big market with not a very attractive transport network and the unpredictable situation on its borders.

He also noted that the company initially considered flights from Ukraine to Poland, as well as to other European countries.
