NBU estimates deposits in Ukrainian banks

The volume of national currency deposits in Ukrainian banks in February fell by 0.01%, to UAH 415.721 billion, as well as foreign currency deposits (in dollar equivalent) -- by 0.6%, to $13.002 billion, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) website.

Since the beginning of the year, the volume of national currency deposits has diminished by 2.3%, while foreign currency deposits have also shrunk by 2.3%.

The decrease in deposits of legal entities was typical for the period of quarterly tax payments, while there was an inflow of budget funds to banks, in particular, those from the local budgets.

The balances of currency loans in dollar equivalent decreased by 2% in February; however, they have shrunk by 4% since the beginning of the year, to $17.426 billion.

As UNIAN reported, the volume of national currency deposits in Ukrainian banks in 2016 rose by 8.7%, to UAH 425.624, while foreign currency deposits dropped by 0.4%, to $13.245 billion.
