Retail trade in Ukraine shrinks by 3.7% in Feb

Retail trade in Ukraine grew by 0.5% in January-February 2017 year-over-year (y-o-y), however, it was 3.7% down in February 2017 from January 2017, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service's website.

Retail turnover increased most in Kyiv, Sumy, and Kirovohrad regions – by 7%, 6.2%, and 3.6%, respectively. Retail turnover in the city of Kyiv alone rose by 3.7% during the reporting period, the service said in a statement.

However, the agency did not provide information in absolute terms.

As UNIAN reported, retail trade in Ukraine increased by 3.1% in January 2017 y-o-y (in comparable prices), to UAH 52.9 billion, or US$1.967 billion.

In 2016, retail trade in Ukraine rose by 3.7% from 2015 (in comparable prices), to UAH 1.159 trillion, or $43.1 billion, according to the State Statistics Service.
