Ukraine elaborates on taxes paid by occupied Donbas in 2016

The Ukrainian State Fiscal Service (SFS) reports there were 13,300 taxpayers in the occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in 2016, who paid taxes amounting to UAH 2.8 billion, or US$104 million, to the consolidated budget of Ukraine, according to Ekonomichna Pravda, a Ukrainian business news outlet.

In January 2017, the number of taxpayers decreased to 7,566 entities, who paid UAH 161 million, or $5.987 million, to the budget, while customs payments totaled UAH 139.7 million, or $5.195 million.

Some 9,820 people paid UAH 1.3 billion, or $48 million, in unified social security tax in 2016, whereas 6,918 people paid UAH 89.7 million, or $3.336 million, in social security contributions in January 2017, the SFS said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ukrainian Cabinet prepared a preliminary assessment of losses from the trade blockade in Donbas in two scenarios.

According to the low-case scenario, GDP will fall by 2.5%, the nominal GDP will shrink by UAH 39 billion, while inflation will see grow by 8.5 pp. In this case, the hryvnia will lose UAH 5.6 per dollar by the end of 2017.
