Retail trade in Ukraine up 0.5% in 2017

Retail trade in Ukraine grew by 0.5% in January-February 2017 year-over-year (y-o-y) in comparable prices, to UAH 104.287 billion, or US$3.9 billion, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service's website.

The agency did not earlier provide figures in comparison.

Retail turnover increased most in Kyiv, Sumy and Kirovohrad regions – by 7%, 6.2% and 3.6%, respectively, to UAH 6.647 billion, UAH 2.111 billion and UAH 2.20 billion, respectively. At the same time, the largest decline in retail trade growth in January-February 2017 was recorded in Rivne region (by 6.6%, to UAH 2.04 billion) and Kherson region (by 6.3%, to UAH 2.248 billion). Retail turnover in the city of Kyiv along rose by 3.7% during the reporting period, to UAH 20.382 billion, the service said in a statement.

The wholesale turnover of the enterprises in February 2017 alone was 1.8% down on February last year.

As UNIAN reported, retail trade in Ukraine increased by 3.1% in January 2017 y-o-y (in comparable prices), to UAH 52.9 billion, or $1.967 billion.

In 2016, retail trade in Ukraine rose by 3.7% from 2015 (in comparable prices), to UAH 1.159 trillion, or $43.1 billion, according to the State Statistics Service.
