Skoda Auto may build plant in Ukraine

Ukraine is interested in locating Skoda Auto production facilities on its territory, and is ready to contribute fully to attracting investment in the country's automotive industry, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said during his meeting with Chairman of the Board of Skoda Auto Bernhard Mayer, according to the government's website.

The report notes that the management of Skoda Auto considers Ukraine as one of the sites for the deployment of its production facilities.

"Ukraine is interested in supporting our cooperation. Skoda has been working in Ukraine for a long time, and I don't mind telling that we are interested in having your company set up production in Ukraine. We are ready to become a reliable partner for the implementation of such a project," Groysman said.

"I realize that the company has a global choice where to place its production, but if you select Ukraine, it will be the right choice. I am ready to monitor all necessary measures so that you could feel all the conditions for launching production."

It's clear that there are risks surrounding the issue of working in Ukraine, but they exist in any corner of the world, and today I do not see any objective threats to investment and the development of production in Ukraine. I undertake to fulfill everything necessary for the full implementation of the project," the prime minister stressed.

As UNIAN reported earlier, foreign direct investment in Ukraine's economy amounted to US$3.8 billion in 2016.
