Ukraine convinces IMF: No need to raise retirement age to 63 – Reva

Ukrainian's Social Policy Minister Andriy Reva says that the government has managed to convince the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that there is no need to raise the retirement age for Ukrainians to 63 years, according to the TV news service TSN.

"We saw it as an unacceptable option in our country at the moment and proposed a different solution to this problem. The debates lasted for four months, and we managed to solve it without raising the general retirement age," the minister said amid the Pravo na Vladu [Right to Power] talk show, TSN said.

The retirement age for women is 58.5 years today, Reva said. However, under the pension reform introduced in 2011, the retirement age for women is to increase by six months annually until 2021. Then women will retire, like men, at age of 60.
