Ukraine can show economic breakthrough in 3 years – Groysman

Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman says in three years, the country can make an economic breakthrough, which the citizens will feel, according to the governmental press service.

"We have remained afloat; we have survived in difficult conditions, and reached economic growth. We doubled the minimum wage, raised salaries for teachers and doctors, began large-scale road repairs, and set our priorities clear,” Groysman said.

“The next stage is pension reform. We have also launched a program for the purchase of medications. We are reducing dependence on coal and increasing [own] gas production. We are seeing [economic] growth, and this means stable currency, quality incomes, and moderate unemployment. This will influence public moods," the head of government said.

Groysman also claimed that the deficit-free pension fund and the establishment of fair pensions are a common position for both Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund.

"These years can see Ukraine’s breakthrough if we take quality and professional, rather than populist, decisions," Groysman said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on April 3 approved the medium-term plan for the country’s development until 2020, based on achieving sustainable annual economic growth of 4-5% of GDP, ensuring effective public administration, human capital development, the rule of law, and the development of the defense sector.
