Restoring justice: Poroshenko on recovery of assets stolen by Yanukovych team

The funds confiscated from Ukraine’s ousted ex-president Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage will primarily be allocated for strengthening the Ukrainian army, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said Friday.

"I addressed the government and parliament so that the parliament amend the state budget, to have top priority in using this money the restoration of combat capacity of the Ukrainian troops, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the National Guard, the Security Service, the State Border Guard Service, and the National Police," the president said, while visiting the Main Communication, Automation and Information Security Center of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

It is very important that we begin constructing dorms for contracted troops and military hotels for officers on premises of each brigade," added Poroshenko.

As UNIAN reported earlier, according to the press service of the National Security and Defense Council, the court's decision came into force today, April 28,  to transfer to the state budget $1.5 billion, arrested in the accounts of Yanukovych and his entourage.
