Energoatom sees 6.3% growth in profit in 1Q 2017

State-run Energoatom, the operator of Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants, increased its net profit by 6.3% in 1Q 2017 year-over-year (y-o-y) from UAH 681.8 million to UAH 724.6 million, according to a company announcement in the National Securities and Stock Market Commission's information disclosure system.

According to the report, Energoatom's net revenue from electricity sales in January-March 2017 grew by 15.5% y-o-y, from UAH 9.156 billion to UAH 10.579 billion.

Energoatom's gross profit over the period under review rose by 10.2% y-o-y, from UAH 2.6 billion to UAH 2.9 billion.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine's largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of the country's nuclear power plants.

Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
