Ukrainians report almost UAH 51 bln in revenues, number of millionaires shrinks 25% in 2016

Acting head of Ukraine's State Fiscal Service (SFS) Myroslav Prodan says the number of millionaires in Ukraine fell by 25% in 2016 compared with 2015, while their total income increased by 13%, according to the SFS press service.

"Over the past year, 3,504 people reported more than UAH 1 million in income. The number of millionaires shrank by 25%, or by 1,180 people, from 2015... Despite the decrease in the number of millionaires, the total amount of their incomes, compared with last year, rose by 13%, or by UAH 3.2 billion," the press service quoted Prodan as saying.

The majority of citizens who declared incomes over UAH 1 million live in Kyiv (about 1,700 people), while 287 millionaires live in Kharkov region, 216 people – in Dnepropetrovsk region, and 211 millionaires – in Odesa region, the press service said.

The total amount of declared incomes was estimated at UAH 50.8 billion, or US$1.9 billion, which is 4% higher than last year's figure. Tax liabilities for personal income tax amounted to UAH 1.62 billion, and UAH 226.5 million in war tax.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the declaration campaign was launched in Ukraine on January 1, 2017, during which the citizens must declare incomes received during 2016.

In the 2015 declaration campaign, over 550,000 citizens submitted their declarations of assets and income, which was up 8%, or 40,000 people, from 2014. The total amount of declared income stood at UAH 49.5 billion, which was 2% up against 2014. The number of millionaires in Ukraine increased by 16% to 4,684 people in 2015 compared to the previous year.
