Ukraine produces over 2,000 vehicles in four months, 92% up y-o-y

Production of motor vehicles in Ukraine rose by 91.8% in January-April 2017 year-over-year (y-o-y), to 2,064 units, according to the Ukravtoprom Association.

In particular, production of passenger cars grew by 107.5%, to 1,700 units, while the output of commercial vehicles shrank by 38.8% y-o-y, to 153 units. At the same time, the number of buses produced over the period under review soared by 19 times, to 220 units.

In April 2017 alone, Ukraine produced 621 vehicles, which was 107.7% up y-o-y and 9.6% down from March 2017.

Passenger cars whose output almost quadrupled in April 2017 y-o-y, to 570 units accounted for the lion's share of total vehicle output. Ukravtoprom reported that only Eurocar plant was producing cars.

Production of buses in April 2017 fell by 37% from March 2017, to 51 units.

However, there were no reports about trucks manufactured in April this year. As Ukravtoprom claims, truck manufacturer AutoKrAZ, for unexplained reasons, had not provided statistics on truck production since August last year.

UNIAN memo. The largest manufacturers of cars and buses in Ukraine are UkrAVTO Corporation (Zaporizhia automobile building plant), Bogdan Corporation, Eurocar plant, AIS Corporation (KrASZ), Etalon Corporation (Chernihiv and Boryspil automobile plants).
