Retail trade in Ukraine climbs 5.8% in four months

Retail trade in Ukraine rose by 5.8% in January-April 2017 year-over-year (y-o-y) in comparable prices, to UAH 226.749 billion, or US$8.6 billion, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service's website.

Retail turnover increased most in Kirovohrad region (by 9.3%, to UAH 4.37 billion), Lviv region (by 9.2%, to UAH 13.1 billion), Poltava region (by 8.4%, to UAH 6.87 billion), Odesa region (by 7.9%, to UAH 17.17 billion) and Zhytomyr region (by 7.7%, to UAH 5 billion).

At the same time, the largest decline in retail trade growth in January-April 2017 was recorded in Luhansk region (by 0.3%, to UAH 1.76 billion). Retail turnover in the city of Kyiv grew by 5.2% during the period under review, to UAH 44.191 billion.

The retail turnover of enterprises involved in retail trade activities in January-April 2017 was estimated at UAH 163.535 billion, which was 5.5% up y-o-y.

As UNIAN reported, retail trade in Ukraine rose by 3.1% in January-March 2017 y-o-y.

In 2016, retail trade in Ukraine grew by 3.7% from 2015 (in comparable prices), to UAH 1.159 trillion, or $44 billion, according to the State Statistics Service.
