Cabinet to allocate $76 mln for construction of Lviv – Mykolaiv highway

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers plans to allocate UAH 2 billion, or US$ 76 million, for the construction of the highway Lviv – Ternopil – Khmelnitsky – Vinnytsia – Uman – ­­Odesa – Mykolaiv, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said at a government meeting on Wednesday, May 31.

"The government will offer to increase this year by another UAH 2 billion the financing of the construction of the Lviv – Ternopil – Khmelnitsky – Vinnytsia – Uman – Odesa – Mykolayiv highway through budget changes and parliament's support. The highway will connect Ukraine's western border with the country's south and ports," Groysman said.

The prime minister also stressed the need to ensure the quality of and safety on the highway.

As UNIAN reported, this year the government intends to triple against 2016 (to UAH 30 billion) the financing of the country's road infrastructure.

According to the State Road Agency of Ukraine, Ukravtodor, the annual need for road maintenance funding is estimated at no less than UAH 60 billion.
