Naftogaz rejects Gazprom's call for talks in Moscow

National oil and gas holding Naftogaz of Ukraine does not intend to hold talks with Russian gas monopoly Gazprom in the territory of the Russian Federation, the company's press service reported.

"For Naftogaz of Ukraine, the Russian Federation is an unacceptable country for holding negotiations with Gazprom. Naftogaz has consistently adhered to this position since 2014 both in correspondence and during official meetings with representatives of the Russian company," Naftogaz said.

At the same time, the press service said that Naftogaz had repeatedly confirmed its readiness to hold talks with Gazprom in Brussels or in another city within the EU.

Transit shipments of natural gas through the Ukrainian gas transport system in 2016 grew by 23% from 2015, to 82.2 billion cubic meters. Transit of natural gas through the Ukrainian gas transport system in January-April 2017 increased by 23%, or to 30.5 billion cubic meters year-over-year.
