Centrenergo to hold talks on anthracite coal supplies from U.S.

Ukraine's major power generating company PJSC Centrenergo plans to hold talks next week on the purchase in the United States of deficit anthracite coal for its thermal power plants (TPPs), the company's CEO Oleh Kozemko said ahead of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's visit to Trypilska TPP, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"We will import the coal, namely from the U.S. or South Africa ... Next week I am going to visit the U.S. and then I will be able to answer this question [about the coal purchase price]," he said, adding that the company must purchase 700,000 tonnes of anthracite for the 2017-2018 heating season.

"I think that the first coal from the U.S. will arrive in two months," the CEO said.
