Ukraine's statistics agency: Men earn 28% more than women in Q1

The average salary of a male employee in the first quarter of 2017 (Q1) was estimated at UAH 7,160, or US$247, which was 27.5% more than the average salary of a female employee, according to the Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda, referring to the data released by Ukraine's State Statistics Service.

The average salary of a full-time female employee was UAH 5,612, or $215, in Q1 2017, Ukrainska Pravda reported.

At the same time, such a gap is not typical for all types of economic activity.

In the educational sphere, women earn UAH 5,247, which is UAH 181 UAH ($6.9) down from male employees' salary.

However, the biggest gap is observed in finance and insurance: UAH 9,793 ($395) earned by a female worker against UAH 16,118 ($617) earned by a male worker on the average.
