PM Groysman forecasts average wage rise to US$385 per month

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman projects that the average monthly wage in Ukraine in 2017 will reach UAH 7,000, or US$270, and will further increase to UAH 10,000, or US$385, in the medium-term outlook.

"We forecast the average salary will be UAH 7,000 this year and UAH 10,000 in the medium-term outlook," the prime minister said at a government meeting on Wednesday, June 14.

He claims that raising standards of living is a key task of the Ukrainian government.

"European integration is primarily the European level of living, which we must provide for Ukrainians," the prime minister said.

The average nominal salary of a full-time employee in Ukraine in April was UAH 6,659, or US$256, which is 1.4% less than in March this year and 36% more than in April 2016.

This level is 2.1 times higher than the minimum wage in Ukraine, which is UAH 3,200, or US$123.

Earlier, Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva projected that the average salary would grow by 37%, to UAH 7,100, or US$273, by the end of 2017.
