Wizz Air launches flights from Lviv to Berlin (Photo)

Hungarian airlines Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, has launched Lviv-Berlin flights between from Lviv's Danylo Halytsky International Airport to Berlin Schönefeld Airport, according to the company's press release.

The flight will be carried out twice week – on Wednesdays and Sundays, with fares starting from as low as UAH 409, or about US$16, the report said.

Wizz Air offers a total of 21 low-fare routes to eight countries, for the time being, the company added.

Sorina Ratz, the Communications Manager of Wizz Air, says that it is the company's second route from Lviv.

"We are delighted to commence operations on our second route from Lviv connecting the city with Germany's capital, Berlin Schoenefeld. Underlining our commitment to the region, we look forward to continuing our fruitful partnership with Lviv International Airport and remain committed to bringing even more opportunities," the press service quoted Ratz as saying.

The Hungarian airline also announced the commencement of operations from Lviv to Berlin from June 18, as well as the launch of three new flights from Kyiv to the Polish cities of Poznan and Lublin, and Frankfurt-Hahn in Germany.

UNIAN memo. Wizz Air operates 55 Airbus A320 aircraft, which carry out passenger air transportation from 21 bases to more than 110 destinations and on 380 routes in 37 countries.

Wizz Air Ukraine is the first budget airline licensed by Ukraine's State Aviation Service.
