Unemployment in Ukraine exceeds 10% in Q1

The unemployment rate in Ukraine calculated in keeping with International Labour Organization (ILO) standards for employees aged from 15 to 70 grew to 10.1%, or 1.8 million people, in the first quarter of 2017 from 9.9%, or 1.77 million people, in the first quarter of 2016, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service.

Unemployment in Q1 2017 was 0.4 percentage points up from Q4 2016, it said.

The Ukrainian State Statistics Service reports that the share of the employed from among the population aged 15-70 in Q1 2017 decreased year-over-year by 0.4 percentage points, to 55.2%, or 15.9 million people. The share of the employed from among the people of working age working fell by 0.1 percentage points, to 63.3%.

The report does not include data from Russian-occupied areas in Donbas and Crimea.
