Minister Omelyan: Two U.S. companies to develop river navigation in Ukraine

Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan has announced that two companies from the United States have shown interest in the development of river navigation in Ukraine, according to the Center for Transport Strategies (CFTS).

"The trip to Washington was successful ... More than a dozen meetings with members of the Congress from the Republican and Democratic Parties were held. Negotiations were held with the leadership of the departments of transport, commerce, treasury, the U.S. Department of State, and a number of U.S. companies," he said, CFTS reported.

"The agreements include: General Electric and Greenbrier are ready for serious investment in the railway sector of Ukraine since this autumn; at least two U.S. companies intend to develop river navigation, build barges in Ukraine," the minister said.

"We hope for the launch of direct flights by a leading U.S. company," he said.

As UNIAN reported, Omelyan earlier announced that low-cost airlines from Europe were interested in Ukraine, saying that Ryanair, Eurowings and one more low-cost airline plan to fly to Ukraine.
