Ukraine exports record 43.4 mln tonnes of grain since July 2016

Ukrainian agrarians have exported a record 43.41 million tonnes of grain since the beginning of the 2016-2017 marketing year (MY, July 2016 – June 2017), which was 4.4 million tonnes up from the previous year, according to the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's press service.

In particular, 17.36 million tonnes of wheat, 5.34 million tonnes of barley, 20.41 million tonnes of maize, and 10,600 tonnes of rye were exported from Ukraine.

Over the period under review, the agrarians also shipped 370,000 tonnes of flour abroad, including 368,500 tonnes of wheat flour and 1,500 tonnes of other types of flour.

The previous record was registered in the 2015-2016 MY when grain exports stood at 39.4 million tonnes.

Ukraine harvested 65.95 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops in 2016, which was 9.7% up from 2015. It was also a record for the whole period of the country's independence, according to the State Statistics Service.
