Ukrainian households' debts for gas supplies almost doubled in May 2017, to UAH 11.3 billion (US$434 million) from April 2017, according to Ukraine's State Statistics Service.
Debts for the maintenance of houses, facilities and adjacent areas over the period under review grew by 7.4%, to UAH 2.9 billion ($111 million), while debts for household waste removal almost did not change from the previous month, amounting to UAH 400 million ($15.4 million), the report said.
The arrears for centralized water supplies and sewage services increased by 28.6%, to UAH 1.8 billion ($69 million).
Ukrainians paid UAH 2.7 billion ($104 million) for electricity (98.6% of the amounts accrued over the period under review). At the same time, arrears for electricity as of the end of May were estimated at UAH 3.9 billion ($150 million), whereas debts for heating and hot water supplies rose by 3.4% in May, to UAH 8.9 billion ($342 million).
Households paid a total of UAH 5.2 billion ($200 million) for housing and utilities services, which accounted for 73.6% of the amounts charged for the period under review.
Read alsoNEURC cancels introduction of delivery charge for gasThe highest level of payments was recorded in Odesa, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions (154.1%, 142.7%, and 134.8% respectively), the lowest one was in Chernihiv, Cherkasy, and Vinnytsia regions (21.6%, 25.3%, and 33.4% respectively).
Some 19,900 agreements were concluded with households in January-May 2017 to restructure UAH 107.5 million ($4.1 million) in debts.
As UNIAN reported earlier, households' arrears for centralized heating and hot water supplies declined by 17.3% in April 2017, to UAH 8.6 billion against March 2017. Debts for the maintenance of houses, facilities, and adjacent areas grew by 7.4%, to UAH 2.7 billion, while arrears for household waste removal rose by 25%, to UAH 400 million, while those for centralized water supplies and sewage services increased by 7.1%, to UAH 1.4 billion. At the same time, debts for gas supplies in April fell by 24.5%, to UAH 5.7 billion.
