Ukraine's agricultural companies in 2016-2017 marketing year (MG, July 2016 - June 2017) exported 43.8 million tonnes of grains, topping an all-time record for the independent Ukraine, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported citing preliminary data.

"The record harvest of the previous year at 66 million tonnes has formed a resource for exports at the level of 43.8 million tonnes, which is the historical maximum for Ukraine," the press service quoted First Deputy Agrarian Minister Maksym Martyniuk as saying.

According to the report, Ukrainian agricultural producers also exported a record volume of flour - at 369,400 tonnes, which indicates a gradual reorientation of exporters toward supplying products with higher added value.

The press service added that promoting the shift toward value-added products will increase the level of foreign exchange earnings and neutralize the risks inherent in commodity exports, such as the dependence on fluctuations in world prices for agricultural products.
