Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko suggests to allocate UAH1 billion, or US$38.5 million, to construct housing for the military contractors, according to the presidential press service.
"We have more than 90,000 contractors. In fact, 100% of servicemen in the ATO area are contractors. We must ensure comfortable housing for them when they return to the sites of their permanent deployment. This will not be barracks, but housing for contractors," Poroshenko told a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
Read alsoNSDC secretary suggests increasing Ukraine's defense, security spending by UAH 9 blnThe president set a task to build housing for at least 15,000 contractors at the cost of UAH 1 billion allocated from the special fund of the state budget so that they "would have the opportunity to have a good rest and shift away from the Soviet army's standards."
He stressed the necessity to ensure construction about 150,000 square meters of housing and create about 100 residential complexes with adequate infrastructure for accommodation and rehabilitation of servicemen.
